MediaTek Dimensity 7450 chips bring premium performance and foldable tech to new smartphones

MediaTek Launches Dimensity 7450 and 7450X Chipsets Featuring Four Nanometer Architecture for High Performance Mainstream Smartphones and Next Generation Foldable Devices Like the Motorola Razr 70

MediaTek has established its entry into the mid premium chipset market through its introduction of the Dimensity 7450. The official MediaTek website now shows both the Dimensity 7450 and its specialized model Dimensity 7450X. This initiative aims to deliver advanced performance capabilities for upcoming mainstream smartphone systems and specialized foldable technology. The Dimensity 7450X is expected to make its first appearance in the forthcoming Motorola Razr 70 device.

The two chipsets use a cutting edge four nanometer class manufacturing system which provides thermal efficiency and power performance. The central processing unit uses an eight core system. The system contains four Cortex A78 performance cores which reach maximum clock speeds of 2.6 GHz and four Cortex A55 efficiency cores which handle background processing tasks. The Arm Mali G615 MC2 unit handles graphical processing by delivering the necessary performance capacity for both contemporary mobile gaming and high definition interface rendering.

The current silicon generation concentrates its development efforts on artificial intelligence. MediaTek has integrated its sixth generation NPU, which the company reports offers a seven percent performance increase over previous iterations. The dedicated AI engine has been designed to perform edge AI operations and computational photography tasks, which enables faster image processing and reduced energy consumption during AI processing activities.

The chips use Imagiq 950 ISP technology to create their imaging capabilities. The hardware enables primary camera sensors to function at maximum resolution which reaches up to 200 megapixels. The silicon allows video enthusiasts to record 4K HDR content while using hardware backed noise reduction to achieve visual clarity during difficult lighting circumstances. The display system has extensive compatibility which allows WFHD plus resolutions to operate at 120Hz while Full HD plus panels can refresh at 144Hz.

The upgraded 5G modem which complies with 3GPP Release 17 global standard handles connectivity requirements. MediaTek reports peak downlink speeds of 3.27 Gbps facilitated by 3CC carrier aggregation. Local wireless standards include Wifi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4, which provide rapid and reliable data transmission. The memory system supports LPDDR5 and LPDDR4X RAM with speeds reaching 6400 Mbps while storage systems work with both UFS 2.2 and UFS 3.1 technology.

MediaTek established a distinct market segment for the Dimensity 7450X despite both chips sharing similar internal specifications. The variant offers special hardware functions which enable dual display operation. The special hardware function enables flip style foldable devices to switch between internal and external screens without interruption. The standard Dimensity 7450 operates in the traditional smartphone market which emphasizes multimedia content and gaming, while the X variant supplies fundamental technology for the developing foldable market.
