S GAME Rejects AI Automation for Phantom Blade Zero Using Traditional Kungfupunk World Building and Authentic Martial Arts Movement
S GAME has dedicated its entire development process to creating Phantom Blade Zero because the gaming industry is undergoing a substantial change toward increased automation. The project director of the game Soulframe announced that the title has now reached its last stage of development, according to his public statement. The studio maintains that it has created the project through conventional methods because the studio currently bans AI visual tools and uses traditional techniques throughout the project.
Phantom Blade Zero is currently in the intense, final stages of development. With the time we have left, we are pouring every available resource into pushing every aspect of the game to the absolute limit of our capabilities.

The studio develops its world building system through its Kungfupunk system, which depends entirely on actual physical elements instead of automated content creation. The team conducted extensive location scouting across China, ranging from Fujian’s ancestral halls to decommissioned industrial sites in Beijing. The artists added their hand drawn artistry to the real world scans of the game, which included game guides that Central Academy of Fine Arts students created with traditional Chinese Xuan paper and ink brushes.
The game uses authentic motion systems to create realistic movement. The team at S GAME used actual martial arts performances as their base for creating synthetic movements in their project. The studio reached out to masters from Mount Emei for swordplay choreography and Guangdong experts for lion dance routines, ensuring that the movement reflects established cultural lineages. The developers asked swordsmiths to create actual steel replicas so they could test the authentic weight and handling of weapons.
Character performances follow this same rigid standard of human contribution. The studio uses human performance as the basis for all facial capture and 3D character model creation, which includes complete lip syncing support for both English and Chinese. S GAME leadership believes that human artistry functions as the main product value, which generates their refusal to use generative technology.
Soulframe created this project to establish a team that exists because of their shared passion instead of having the goal of generating commercial success. The studio uses labor intensive methods to create a unique market position, which helps it stand out among other studios that use simpler production processes. S GAME expects players will notice differences between synthetic content and their final hand built work during the last production months.
