Poco launches the C81 budget smartphones as part of its plans to enter the market in April 2023. The upcoming C81 series marks the begining of Poco's plans to update its budget product range in India. The company confirmed an April 23 debut for two new 4G models, the C81 and the C81X. Both units will be available through the Flipkart digital storefront, continuing the brand strategy of targeting value conscious consumers who prioritize battery longevity over premium flagship aesthetics.

The C81 smartphone serves as the direct successor to the C71 which made its market debut approximately twelve months before. Digital teaser assets provided by the retailer reveal that the standard C81 model prioritizes substantial power reserves, housing a 6300 milliampere hour cell. The system supports 15 watts for its wired charging which works together with 7.5 watts of wired reverse charging. A 13 megapixel primary rear sensor operates as the base model's photographic system which conforms to the expected imaging standards for this price range.

The C81X model will display its better performance through its smaller range of 5200 milliampere hour. The initial promotional rollout provides visual data which shows this variant uses a single sensor array on the rear panel to deliver basic functionality. The company has not shared processor architecture details or display quality information for both devices until the embargo period ends. The company will reveal more details about the two devices when the late April release window approaches.

Poco uses these devices as its latest budget products to establish market dominance in markets where power capacity and entry pricing have become important purchase reasons. The formal reveal occurring later this week will likely provide the final missing pieces of the hardware puzzle, specifically regarding the chipset configurations and the final retail cost for each version.
