Atomfall BAFTA Winning British Video Game Is Heading To Television In A New Scripted Drama Collaboration Between Rebellion And Two Brothers Pictures
The acclaimed British video game Atomfall has gained widespread popularity during 2025 and 2026 which now leads to its adaptation into a television series. According to Deadline the independent studio Rebellion has completed its partnership agreement with Two Brothers Pictures to create a scripted drama based on their title. The announcement follows the game winning the Best British Game award at the BAFTA Game Awards which established its cultural phenomenon status with more than three million active players.
The upcoming series will be written by Harry and Jack Williams the founders of Two Brothers Pictures who are widely recognized for their work on high profile productions such as Fleabag and The Assassin. The Williams brothers who created Two Brothers Pictures will partner with Rebellion founders Jason and Chris Kingsley to create the first entertainment industry collaboration between two sibling pairs. The Kingsleys will serve as executive producers alongside Ben Smith and Alex Mercer as the project begins its move from interactive software to a serialized narrative format.
The story of Atomfall provides a distinctively British perspective on the post apocalyptic genre drawing heavy inspiration from folk horror and classic science fiction. The story takes place in a restricted military zone which controls access to its territory through walled barriers that surround its entire Lake District area in England. The fictional disaster which takes place in the story has its origins from the real Windscale nuclear accident which occurred in 1957 and remains the most critical nuclear event in United Kingdom history. The social order of the isolated zone has descended into a strange and disturbing situation which contrasts with the outside world that continues normal operations.
Rebellion is building its media presence through multiple sectors by using its Oxfordshire studio facilities to produce various film and television content. The studio will adapt Atomfall after Duncan Jones revealed Rogue Trooper movie footage which he directed based on the 2000 AD comic book portfolio. Rebellion uses Atomfall to enter television because the gaming industry shows a successful pattern established by previous high budget adaptations which achieved top ratings during recent years. The creative team at Two Brothers Pictures has expressed a deep personal connection to the source material which will result in a television drama that captures the strange atmosphere and unsettling narrative that made the game a breakout hit.
