BYD has introduced an ultra luxurious 4 seat version of its flagship off road vehicle, the Yangwang U8L Premium Edition. The massive SUV drops the traditional bench seating in favor of individual zero gravity armchairs designed for absolute passenger comfort. Priced at approximately 216,000 dollars, this premium variant is scheduled to begin shipping next year.
This premium vehicle measures 5400 millimeters in length and 2049 millimeters in width, resting on a long 3250 millimeter wheelbase. Power comes from an advanced setup featuring 4 independent electric motors working alongside a 2.0 liter engine to charge the onboard battery. The vehicle uses a 56.58 kWh Blade battery pack. This combination yields a pure electric range of 230 kilometers on a single charge under CLTC testing. Total range with the internal combustion generator active climbs to 1205 kilometers.
Charging speed is a major focus for this flagship. The electrical system can juice the battery from 10% to 70% in just 5 minutes. Getting the charge from 10% to 97% takes only 9 minutes. For safety and automated driving, the SUV carries the God’s Eye A assistance system. This suite coordinates a roof mounted lidar sensor with 40 high precision sensors distributed across the body panels.
Inside the cabin, gold accents highlight the premium detailing. The driver and front passenger are greeted by 3 massive digital displays running across the dashboard. The seats feature built in 18 point massage systems and electric footrests to ensure maximum relaxation. Passengers in the rear get access to a giant 21.4 inch multimedia screen that folds down from the ceiling.
According to official sales figures in China, the vehicle retails for 1,458,000 yuan, which equals about 216,000 dollars. Initial customer deliveries are planned to begin during the course of next year.
