ASUS gaming ambitions have continued to grow and they have officially announced two more premium laptops that target the enthusiast player market. The ROG Strix SCAR 10 Plus Extreme Edition and ROG Zephyrus G16 Air pack impressive processors and graphics cards in their respective packages. While the two laptops pack immense gaming power it is their retail price that might impress you the most.
ROG Strix SCAR 10 Plus Extreme Edition Specifications
The top tier ROG Strix SCAR 10 Plus Extreme Edition is outfitted with an 18 inch 240Hz screen with 4K resolution, Mini LED backlighting that features 2000 dimming zones and can peak at 1600 nits bright, anti glare finish, VESA DisplayHDR 1000, ClearMR 11000, and Dolby Vision support. Inside the machine, you will find an Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 GPU. In terms of storage and memory, the system is configured with a massive 128GB DDR5 6400 RAM and an 8TB PCIe 5.0 solid state drive. ASUS states the machine will feature a cooling solution that uses three fans for a combined Thermal Design Power of 320W.
In terms of auxiliary features, the ROG Strix SCAR 10 Plus Extreme Edition comes with a 90Wh battery, an infrared webcam, four speakers, and an RGB backlit keyboard. It also boasts a plethora of I/O with two Thunderbolt 5 ports, three USB A ports, one HDMI 2.1 port, a 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port, and an audio jack. The flagship laptop is slated to launch in the Chinese market soon for the retail price of $8,832.
ROG Zephyrus G16 Air Design and Performance
For the player that needs more portability the ROG Zephyrus G16 Air slims down the package to just 1.45cm thickness. This ultra portable laptop is powered by an Intel Core Ultra 9 386H CPU along with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090. RAM is set to 64GB DDR5 LPDDR5X 8533 along with a 2TB PCIe 5.0 solid state drive. Because of the slim chassis design, the TDP of the system is limited to a relatively lower 175W combined TDP. It is outfitted with a 16 inch OLED screen with 2.5K resolution and a fast response time of 0.2ms with a refresh rate of 240Hz. The display also covers 100% of the DCI P3 gamut and is Pantone validated.
Although slim, the ROG Zephyrus G16 Air houses six speakers and a 90Wh battery. The machine comes with an HDMI 2.1 port, Thunderbolt 4, a USB C port, two USB A ports, an audio jack, and a MicroSD card slot. This model is also launching soon in China with a retail price of $6,329.
