What is Great About Hall Effect and 8000Hz Polling
The big thing about the HE75 V2 is definitely its magnetic switches. Unlike regular mechanical switches that use metal parts touching each other to register a key press Hall Effect switches use magnets to figure out exactly how far down you have pressed a key. This brings in a game changer called Rapid Trigger.
With Rapid Trigger how quickly a key activates and resets is flexible. The second you lift your finger the key resets the moment you press it down again it responds. For fast paced games like CS2 or Valorant this means you can move incredibly precisely and react instantly. Combine that with a super fast 8000Hz polling rate and there is basically no delay in your input. Your hardware will never be the thing holding you back in a gunfight.
Sound and Build
Usually magnetic keyboards have sounded a bit hollow and plasticky. But Epomaker has really turned that around. The HE75 V2 comes with their own Jade style magnetic switches which are surprisingly bit quiet. Plus it seems to have a heavily cushioned gasket mount design making the typing experience really soft and muted it is like typing on a cloud.
The keycaps themselves are a bit see through letting the custom RGB lights shine through nicely. Even better they have a slightly textured matte finish. This is a huge improvement over shiny clear caps because it does a great job of keeping fingerprints away even when you are using it for a long intense gaming session.
Smart Customizable Design
One of the coolest design choices on the HE75 V2 is its modular top right corner. Right out of the box it has a high quality clicky metal knob for quickly changing the volume. But if you prefer dedicated macro keys Epomaker includes a keycap puller four extra magnetic switches and replacement keycaps (Print Screen and Insert).
You can easily pull out the knob module and put two magnetic switches in its place. Since these are Hall Effect switches you do not have to worry about bending those delicate copper pins during the hot swap process. It is a clever touch that works well for people who use a lot of media controls and for those who like a more traditional setup.
Huge Battery and Ways to Connect
Wireless keyboards especially the slim ones often run out of battery quickly. Epomaker solves this by putting a massive 8000mAh battery into the HE75 V2. Even with the fast polling rate and three ways to connect (wired 2.4GHz dongle and Bluetooth with up to three device profiles) this keyboard can easily last for weeks on one charge.
Other nice extras include a good quality coiled cable a branded dust cover to keep your setup clean and two stage adjustable kickstands. This basic ergonomic feature is surprisingly missing from many expensive heavy metal custom keyboards.
Software and Lights
To really get the most out of the Rapid Trigger function and the 8000Hz polling rate it is highly recommended to use the Epomaker companion software. However you can do some basic customizing right on the keyboard itself. There are plenty of built in shortcuts that let you cycle through different RGB light effects change solid colors adjust brightness and alter effect speeds without ever needing to open an app.
Battery Life and Connectivity
Wireless performance is handled via tri-mode connectivity: wired, 2.4GHz dongle (which neatly stores beneath the dual-stage kickstands), and Bluetooth with support for up to three paired devices.
Because low profile keyboards often suffer from anemic battery life, Epomaker made sure to pack a massive 8000mAh battery inside the HE75 V2. Even with the customizable RGB backlighting running, this keyboard can easily survive for week of use between charges. To maximize the 8000Hz polling rate and Rapid Trigger features, however, you will want to utilize the companion software on a PC to fine-tune your actuation points.
