Escape from Tarkov Lead Game Designer Jean Tulegenov Steps Down After Nearly A Decade at Battlestate Games Following the Milestone Version 1 0 Release
Jean Tulegenov has officially stepped down from his role as the lead game designer for the extraction shooter Escape from Tarkov. His departure marks a significant leadership change for the developer Battlestate Games where Tulegenov has been a central figure in production for nearly a decade. In a public statement shared via social media Tulegenov expressed his gratitude to the studio head Nikita Buyanov while confirming his intent to pursue new opportunities in the industry.
The Escape from Tarkov base experience exists because Tulegenov built multiple essential systems during his work on the game. He controlled the first quest development process and managed Hideout system creation during his studio work. He worked together with his team to develop the first boss character named Reshala and the multiple market areas that create a player controlled economic system. The project had a difficult yet fulfilling work path which he described in his farewell message.
My 9 years at @bstategames and @tarkov have come to an end.

Thank you, @nikgeneburn, for the exciting challenges and for the incredible project we built together.

The project requires this personnel change at its most important decision point. Escape from Tarkov reached its first official release state through version 1.0 which arrived last autumn after it spent many years in beta testing. The Steam users received the 1.0 release with mixed reactions after the community celebrated the complete launch which marked a significant achievement. The studio begins its next stage of live service development work because its most experienced creative director has left the company.
The gaming community and industry professionals want to express their appreciation for Tulegenov who made many important contributions to the game development field. His departure marks a new era for him because he has not yet disclosed his upcoming position at another game studio. The design team at Battlestate Games is currently working to enhance the 1.0 experience while they cope with the departure of a core design team member.
