Forza Horizon 6 Steam Deck Verification and Handheld Optimization Details for Japan Setting and May 2026 Release Schedule With Premium Edition Early Access
Playground Games has confirmed that Forza Horizon 6 is Steam Deck Verified before it is fully released worldwide. In a new production update the studio revealed the upcoming racing title is fully optimized for on the go play on both Windows based handheld and SteamOS based devices. This means the hardware will support the new rendering effects and complex environments present in the Japan location immediately at the time of launch in the 19th of May 2026.
Not only is the Steam Deck the subject of this optimization for high performance handhelds such as the Xbox ROG Ally and its soon to arrive iteration the Ally X, but PC players can already start their preload in both the Xbox app for PC and on Steam to have the game ready when its window for release arrives. A full cross save experience between Xbox Series X|S and all PC variants of the title is to be expected and is scheduled to arrive at a later stage this year on the PlayStation 5.
The PC release focuses on hardware versatility through extensively customizable visual options and, since last week, on new rendering effects that harness advanced GPU capabilities to recreate the neon infused roads and mountain pathways of Japan. To start your race early, players who purchase the Premium Edition of Forza Horizon 6 will receive access to the full game starting on May 15th 2026.
The Premium edition is bundled with a VIP membership and Welcome Pack, a Time Attack Car Pack and 30 cars over a period of 30 weeks using the car pass (one per week). Additionally, Premium Edition users receive:
- The Italian Passion Car Pack
- Two major DLCs to be released post launch
- VIP Membership and Welcome Pack benefits
By securing the verification beforehand Playground Games is directly catering to an increasingly large section of gamers that enjoys the mobility and versatility of their devices without a dip in graphics quality often expected from this series. A deep dive into system requirements and engine performance is also available on their website for anyone to look at before the early access launch in three days.
