Lenovo ThinkStation P4 Desktop Workstation Combines AMD Ryzen PRO 9000 CPUs with NVIDIA RTX 6000 Blackwell Graphics for Professional AI and Engineering Workloads

Lenovo introduces a 30L workstation, called ThinkStation P4, for engineering architecture and media industries. According to Lenovo announcement, the workstation will be the first on the market to feature both the AMD Ryzen PRO 9000 Series CPUs and the NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Workstation Edition graphics, designed to execute AI workloads on the desktop. This hardware accelerates AI computations and removes the latency issues in cloud computing infrastructure.

The system utilizes the AMD PRO 675 motherboard to enable CPUs of up to the 16 core AMD Ryzen 9 PRO 9965X3D which operates at a clock frequency of up to 5.5GHz. The board has been equipped with AMD's 3D V Cache technology for the first time to assist with accelerated big data recall. Graphics performance for rendering as well as on device AI inference, is handled by the NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Workstation Edition which will be available in standard or Max Q configuration. Each graphics card is capable of up to 4000 TOPS of computing power and possesses 96GB of GDDR7 ECC memory.

System memory is upgradable to 256GB DDR5 memory operating at 6400MT/s in the four DDR5 DIMM slots available on the board which are fully compatible with bothECC and non ECC UDIMMs. The workstation supports advanced liquid cooling array as a standard configuration for its top tier AM5 CPUs and helps them maintain steady thermal performance under demanding, continuous load conditions.

The internal storage consists of a hybrid drive configuration supporting up to three M.2 PCIe NVMe drives totaling 12TB of high speed storage. Additionally, three SATA HDDs, operating at up to 36TB of archival storage, can also be accommodated by the workstation. The motherboard offers four I/O slots for expandability including one PCIe Gen 5 x16 slot. Available configurations include a choice between a 500W, 750W or 1100W PSU.

The ThinkStation P4 includes Wi Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 capabilities by means of a Foxconn module. Wired Ethernet connectivity is provided by a Realtek 2.5GbE controller. For front panel connectivity, there is one 20Gbps USB C port, four USB A ports, an audio jack and a media card reader. The rear panel has another four USB A ports and display connectivity in the form of two DisplayPorts (2.0 and 1.4) as well as one HDMI 2.1 port and legacy connectivity options. System security for the ThinkStation P4 relies on a ThinkShield toolkit including a dedicated TPM 2.0 module, BIOS based data erasure, an electronic lock, and a chassis intrusion switch.

Lenovo workstations are fully compatible with Windows 11 Pro, Ubuntu Linux, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and possess independent software vendor certification for most professional applications from developers such as Autodesk, Bentley, and Siemens. The physical chassis has a minimum weight of 8.75kg. Additionally, 95% of the plastics within the chassis are manufactured from post consumer recycled ABS and the workstation includes 16% recycled steel. It is rated for ENERGY STAR 9.0, EPEAT Gold, and TCO Certified 10 standards.
