SanDisk Introduces Two Affordable 2.5 Inch SATA SSD Models with Capacities up to 4TB
SanDisk has expanded its solid state drive portfolio with the introduction of 2 new budget friendly 2.5 inch SATA storage options. The release includes the mid range SanDisk 320 SATA SSD and the flagship SanDisk 520 SATA SSD. Both models utilize 3D NAND flash memory and feature a DRAM less architecture which helps keep consumer costs low while offering substantial storage upgrades for older computer systems.
The SanDisk 320 is engineered specifically for everyday home use and basic system upgrades. This model is available in capacities of 250GB 500GB 1TB and 2TB. It delivers sequential read speeds reaching up to 545 megabytes per second which provides a significant speed boost over traditional mechanical hard drives. SanDisk includes a 3 year warranty with this model to ensure long term reliability for casual users. Pricing for the SanDisk 320 starts at €67 and goes up to €250 depending on the selected capacity.
For IT professionals and power users the company has developed the SanDisk 520. This drive comes in capacities of 500GB 1TB 2TB and a maximum size of 4TB. The performance is slightly higher than its sibling offering sequential read speeds up to 560 megabytes per second and sequential write speeds up to 525 megabytes per second. Input output operations per second are rated between 78,000 and 89,000 for read tasks and between 73,000 and 76,000 for write tasks.
The endurance rating of the SanDisk 520 scales with capacity starting at 300 terabytes written for the smallest model and reaching up to 1000 terabytes written for the flagship variant. Retail pricing for this professional model starts at €103 with the 2TB version priced at €359. The official pricing for the high capacity 4TB flagship model has not yet been disclosed by the company. These new drives represent a cost effective method for upgrading legacy systems that still rely on the older SATA interface.
