RayNeo GT Max AR Glasses Feature Dolby Vision Integration With Optical Engineering And High Performance Processing Hardware For Mobile Cinema
RayNeo of TCL, have announced the release of augmented reality glasses called the GT Max, and is introducing 2 features to the wearable display. The hardware has a 59 field of view designed to provide a 267 virtual display and as per the RayNeo engineers announcement, it is the 1st AR product to be certified with Dolby Vision technology and to set a standard in mobile cinema hardware.
The RayNeo GT Max utilizes double layer Micro OLEDs combined with prismatic modules. The engineers at RayNeo opted for a multi layered reflection design in order to keep the final size of the glasses compact, despite it incurring higher costs in manufacturing for the optics. The resultant field of view is 59 and a good leap from the usual 45 field of view available in most consumer augmented reality devices. To display original colors and avoid oversaturation, RayNeo has implemented Pure Cinema Mode within the display system.
The Dolby Vision integration requires a companion accessory, Magic Box 2 Dolby Vision Edition which is still under development. RayNeo have agreements with large media distribution services like Youku, iQIYI, Tencent Video, Bilibili and to provide compatible high dynamic range video. The glasses will feature 3 viewing modes, which will be head tracking mode, spatial fixation mode, and active image stabilization mode.
The devices have 2 coprocessors of RayNeo's own design, the Vision 4000 and Zone 360. The Vision 4000 chip handles the mapping of space in real time while the Zone 360 processor manages real time video scaling. Bang & Olufsen have engineered an integrated system of temple speakers that are capable of producing spatial sound for the glasses to better reflect the on screen visuals. The final version of the glasses is 78g which is 11g lighter than the initial prototype. Over 6 months, the designers at RayNeo were able to drastically reduce the weight by using nylon, magnesium aluminum alloys and powder metallurgy.
The flag ship glasses will be available in three sizes (S, M and L), and can also accommodate prescription lenses for users with hyperopia or myopia. Along with the GT Max, the standard model GT glasses were also announced. The standard model has a lower field of view (46) and is 68g. More about release dates and pricing tiers for both models shall be announced soon.
