Xbox and Discord Expand Partnership With New Game Pass and Nitro Subscription Perks Plus Enhanced Social Features and Integrated Friend Activity Statuses
Xbox and Discord are leveling up their long running partnership with new benefits that add more bang for your buck in their subscription services. As announced by Team Xbox, the two are merging services for an even smoother social gaming experience. The biggest news Discord Nitro subscribers will get a starter pack for Xbox Game Pass to play a selection of games all within their existing Nitro membership.
The two are also making it easier to find games within Discord itself. Through friend activity statuses, you will be able to see if your pals are playing a game that is available with Xbox Game Pass. Click the "Play" button on game streams or activity statuses, select the Xbox Game Pass option, and you will be in the game. This makes bridging the gap between hanging out with your buddies and getting in on the action even easier.
It is not just Nitro members who will benefit from the partnership. Starting later this month, eligible Xbox Game Pass subscribers will get exclusive Discord Nitro perks, for free. These rewards are geared toward boosting Discord economy and personalization. Game Pass subscribers will receive 250 Discord Orbs per month to spend in the Discord Shop, along with a 1.2x multiplier when earning Orbs from completing Quests.
On top of that, Xbox Game Pass members will get discounts on profile customizations like decorations and other visual upgrades in the Discord Shop. This is an interesting direction that moves toward a more seamless, multi platform membership model, and Team Xbox will share details about how to access these perks via their social channels soon.
This partnership continues the decade long collaboration between Microsoft and Discord, which has already brought Discord voice chats to Xbox and the ability to stream directly to Discord servers. By combining their subscription perks, both companies are looking to solidify their subscriber base and increase loyalty. For gamers, this means a more interconnected experience, blurring the lines between their social lives and their gaming sessions on PC and Xbox.
