Xiaomi Watch S5 Global Release Features 46mm Stainless Steel Models HyperOS 3 and Advanced Health Tracking Accuracy
Xiaomi's flagship wearable device the Watch S5 has been officially released on a global scale. While the initial launch in China had several versions, the global variant will be available in only one form factor. Nevertheless, the internal components and tracking features are identical to the version already released on the market. The official product page from Xiaomi shows various models of the device and mentions upgraded internal specs with a design geared towards consumers worldwide.
The international variant of the Watch S5 will only be available in a 46mm case size. Two premium models and two standard variants will be up for purchase. The Ceramic Blue edition sports a case with 24 precisely cut facets, white enamel hour markers on the bezel and a dual colored leather strap, which is priced at 199 Euros. This green color variant features a case created with a precision layered forging technique and comes with both a green fluororubber strap and a woven nylon strap. The standard models boast of a stainless steel chassis and cost 179 Euros and can be chosen in black or silver, with matching gray or black fluororubber strap.
The display specification is headed by a 1.48 inch AMOLED panel with 480x480 pixel resolution, and is rated to peak at 2500 nits to enhance readability in the sun. The operating system of the Watch S5 is the Xiaomi HyperOS 3, which works with the tracking capabilities of 150 different sports modes. The watch draws power from an 815 mAh battery with rated usage up to 21 days with selective engagement of various sensors and display settings.
A redesigned optical sensor with 4 LEDs and 4 photodiodes serves as the health monitoring setup. Sophisticated software algorithms use biophysical readings to provide 98.4% tracking accuracy for the heart rate and sleep tracking. In addition to common cardiovascular metrics, there is a dedicated motion analysis for fans of sports: The Watch S5 will also be capable of tracking movements such as claps and arm waving to measure physical activity during a sports event.
