ASUS ROG NUC 16 Edition 20 Anniversary Edition PC Design Powerful Specs Cooling and Connectivity Overview

ASUS has diversified its gaming hardware and presented the ROG NUC 16 Edition 20. This sff computer celebrates 20th anniversary of Republic of Gamers. Revealed with the ROG XBOX Ally X20 portable gaming device at the official ASUS showcase, the new model comes with one of the most powerful configurations in the small form factor segment.

As an anniversary edition, the design of the sff PC differs from the normal hardware via the inclusion of transparent side panels and gold design elements. Within the computer's ~3 liter volume and the compact chassis design, that houses all the hardware, one can find up to date powerful components, comparable in size with a modern console for playing video games at home.

At the center of the system is an Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX processor with 24 physical cores that handles the computationally intensive tasks, while 128GB of fast DDR5 6400 RAM complements it to manage the system's memory. As for storage, the machine can accommodate up to a 2TB fast NVMe storage device at PCIe 5.0 interface, and also features one additional M.2 slot for another drive.

The main engineering step up compared to standard versions is on the graphical side. ASUS included an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 graphics processor with 24GB of VRAM GDDR7 for its ROG NUC 16 Edition 20. Manufacturer claims that the graphics chip has a power limit of up to 175W. The system features three cooling fans and a big vapor chamber that prevent overheating.

Connectivity includes a wide variety of I/O for such a 3 liter case, such as 2x HDMI 2.1 and 2x DisplayPort 2.1 outputs, 1x Thunderbolt 4 type C port, and other standard USB ports. Onboard there is Wi Fi 7 for networking. The price and availability information for the limited anniversary edition haven't been released yet by ASUS.
