GIGABYTE Launches AORUS GeForce RTX 50 Series AI BOX External GPUs

GIGABYTE AORUS GeForce RTX 50 Series AI BOX lineup brings flagship RTX 5090 and mid range 5060 Ti external graphics performance to laptops via Thunderbolt 5 connectivity

The GIGABYTE AORUS GeForce RTX 50 Series AI BOXes external graphics stations designed to provide desktop level performance to capable laptops and mini PCs join their other high performance hardware. The lineup comes in two varieties as described in the official GIGABYTE product launch.

Flagship performance comes from the RTX 5090 AI BOX. Its top of the line model will come equipped with a desktop class GeForce RTX 5090 with 32 GB of dedicated VRAM and over 3000 AI TOPS in FP4 performance to handle professional tasks like local large language models, render demanding assets, and process high resolution video without needing an entirely new desktop. The considerable thermal output is cooled with a WATERFORCE closed loop system, a 240 mm aluminum radiator with two 120 mm fans, while supporting Power Delivery 3.0 up to 100 W.

The mid range option for the professional and gamer, the AORUS GeForce RTX 5060 Ti AI BOX will equip a GeForce RTX 5060 Ti with 16 GB of VRAM, intended for gaming at 1440 p or tasks such as local image generation or video editing. This system's thermal output is managed with WINDFORCE air cooling with Hawk Fan tech and server grade thermal paste.

Both units connect via a high speed Thunderbolt 5 port and can be chained to others to accommodate any workspace or processing needs. Beside graphics acceleration, they are a fully functional dock; each has an Ethernet port, three USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, and video out for up to four displays.

Each unit comes with the GPU Selector software utility which permits manually assigning specific workloads to the internal or external GPU. This could be useful for an engineer to assign the RTX 5090 strictly to artificial intelligence local model processes and the laptop’s GPU to display manipulation, or games. Prices are not yet released for either model.
