iPhone Air 2 Expected Hardware Configuration and Timeline Reveal Apple A20 Chip Transition and Dual 48 Megapixel Camera Upgrades
According to the leaked specifications from renowned industry insider Digital Chat Station, a new report gives us a clearer look at the expected hardware configuration and timeline for a potential future device that may be called the “iPhone Air 2”. While it seems that the slim profile’s exterior shell may remain largely similar to its predecessors, internal upgrades are in store. We expect at least two major hardware enhancements to increase performance in general.
The core performance jump for the rumored device is expected to come from a silicon transition to the next generation Apple A20 chip which would upgrade the phone from the A19 Pro. This next iteration of Apple’s system on a chip would be optimized to handle more demanding computational operations more power efficiently. In 2027, the first quarter for a presumed device debut is cited as the earliest date this chip transition would be released alongside the device.
The camera department will also be improved by adding a second rear lens that will upgrade the device to dual 48 megapixel cameras. This system would consist of an upgraded 48 megapixel main camera combined with a new 48 megapixel ultrawide camera lens which should bring much greater clarity to photos with a wide Field of View. As usual, Apple has not provided any comment regarding these rumors and the exact timeline has yet to be determined.
The dual, high megapixel cameras and advanced processor will likely also come at a demand in battery power, which is also rumored to be improved through an internal modification to the slim device which should offer a much greater operating life without affecting the device thickness in anyway. This is expected given Apple’s practices.
