MSI Unveils Claw 8 AI Plus Gaming Handheld with Intel Arc G3 Extreme Graphics 120Hz VRR Screen and Massive 80Wh Battery Life
MSI unveils another generation in portable gaming hardware in Computex. Newly introduced and first gaming handheld, the new Claw 8 EX AI Plus features an Intel Arc G3 Extreme processor; this is the very first silicon solution from Intel to enter the handheld gaming space. Hardware level of integration results in an enormous generational leap in graphics, delivering the ability to run graphically demanding AAA titles in a highly portable device without compromising power efficiency required to power the system for an enjoyable gaming session.
The processing is further strengthened by a modern Intel Xe graphics architecture coupled with XeSS 3 with Multi Frame Generation, the combination capable of delivering high frame rates, buttery smooth visuals and lightning fast response time. In order to assure a smooth viewing experience, the Claw 8 EX AI Plus includes an 8 inch IPS level touchscreen with 1920 by 1200 pixel resolution, 120Hz variable refresh rate with 500 nits of brightness, a display fully covering 100% of the sRGB color spectrum and preventing screen tearing during rapid gameplay.
The handheld offers a whole new experience in user interaction thanks to its newly developed ergonomic grips incorporated into the redesign. The console controllers incorporate Hall effect triggers and joysticks to avoid drift and extend their durability while refined bumpers and a highly tactile D pad complete the array of physical controls. For physical experience, it is equipped with a high end linear motor which, thanks to its rapid response time and ability to provide complex haptic feedback simulating detailed surfaces, minimizes the system's battery drain.
On the software side, the handheld runs on Windows 11 Home and features an intuitive Xbox mode allowing quick game launching and instant continuation of active sessions, and also offers a newly designed Quick Settings panel to easily configure on the fly frame control and frame generation. The console comes in Void Purple color, carries an 80Whr 4 cell lithium polymer battery, supports up to 32GB of dual channel onboard LPDDR5x memory and features an M.2 2280 slot for an NVMe PCIe Gen 4 solid state drive, as well as a couple of Thunderbolt 4 ports, a microSD card reader, a standard audio jack and a fingerprint sensor in the power button for added security.
