OpenAI CEO Sam Altman Delays South Korea Trip for Personal Reasons While Strategic AI Cooperation with Samsung and Local Partners Continues Unfaltered
Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, has suddenly decided to put off his upcoming trip to South Korea. "Due to unavoidable personal reasons,"
he could not maintain his overall trip schedule for Asia including his visit to Korea and had to change the schedule, OpenAI Korea said through an official announcement. Local technology companies, which were preparing for high level summits with the CEO of AI development, showed confusion for the unexpected cancel.
The CEO of OpenAI planned a one night two days speedy business trip to Seoul and intended to have a meeting in private with Naver CEO Choi Soo yeon, Kakao CEO Shina Chung on the plan of exploring collaboration for integration with and business on its ChatGPT generative AI, at local market in Korea.
Besides the executives of IT corporations, Altman was also scheduled to have a special lecture for employees of Samsung Electronics. Two days prior to the landing time in the capital, the appointment had been canceled and OpenAI Korea noted his regret for not visiting at the earliest time with his counterparts, in a bid for a future appointment.
Yet, OpenAI Korea announced that the corporation partnerships in Korea will continue as before. He emphasized that the country is an important and critical strategic market for its technology expansion and that the joint engineering and business relationships with local companies will carry on on the prearranged basis and the executive is currently discussing about his re visit schedule.
