Seres Launches Xiaosai Humanoid Robot to Integrate Industrial Automation with Advanced Machine Learning and ByteDance AI Technology
Chinese EV manufacturer Seres has diversified its technology portfolio by launching its 1st humanoid robot named Xiaosai, a corporate release said. The robot is said to be capable of identifying specific faces and carrying out face to face interaction with humans. We are witnessing the trend of automotive companies converting their accumulated industrial automation experience into advanced robotics.
Robotic process is already very mature into the manufacturing philosophy at Seres. The parent company has used over 3000 industrial robots in its vehicle body assembly plants carrying out quality control checks, supplying mechanical parts and even assisting in working lines. The robust factory infrastructure it has established build up the mechanical and software platform from which the Xiaosai platform was designed and built.
Seres, still not revealing full technical specs of Xiaosai, made the robot in collaboration with a ByteDance owned company (ByteDance also owns TikTok, which most of us are very familiar with). As a result, Xiaosai surely taps into sophisticated machine learning machine learning technology to do voice recognition and a computer vision system to guide its facial gestures and eye movements. Seres is exploiting its prior knowledge about sensors in electric vehicles and self driving cars to improve the interaction and moving behavior of the bipedal robot.
