Ayaneo Konkr Pocket Advance Handheld Revealed Featuring Classic Game Boy Advance Aesthetics

Ayaneo has finally revealed the Konkr Pocket Advance, an upcoming handheld inspired by the classic Game Boy Advance. The horizontal device mimics the retro shell shape and layout of the original console while integrating modern controls like a redesigned directional pad and ABXY buttons. However, the company has kept the official technical specifications and launch pricing under wraps.

According to official preview images shared by Ayaneo, the hardware is not a literal clone of the classic system, but the aesthetic nods are clear. The main body resembles the wide horizontal design of the older console, down to the thick borders around the screen and the angled Start and Select keys. On the bottom right edge, you will find a physical volume scroll wheel and a headphone socket. This mimics the exact positioning used by Nintendo decades ago.

Modern gaming demands more inputs, and the hardware accommodates this with several layout changes. The original 2 button setup has been replaced with 4 action buttons, and the old directional pad has been completely updated. The single front speaker is gone. Instead, Ayaneo placed 2 speakers on the outer edges of the frame, flanking a central USB C port. The power indicator light has also been relocated to the top of the screen bezel.

While we cannot see the back of the device yet, the top edge clearly houses 2 large shoulder buttons and a smaller power key. The initial reveal shows the handheld in a vibrant orange casing with white buttons. This color choice mirrors a famous limited edition version of the original hardware that was only sold in Japan. Ayaneo will likely share other color options and hardware specs as we get closer to the launch date.
