Bentley has officially committed to the production of its 1st completely electric vehicle. The upcoming model is named the Torcal, with the global reveal scheduled to take place during an autumn presentation in London. According to official Bentley communications, the engineering team describes the luxury vehicle as one of the most meticulously planned and thoroughly developed projects in the history of the company.
The name Torcal is derived from El Torcal de Antequera, a prominent Spanish nature reserve characterized by unique geological formations. The designation also serves as a phonetic reference to the Latin word for torque, emphasizing the performance characteristics of electric propulsion. This new model will enter the luxury lineup alongside established vehicles such as the Bentayga, the Bacalar, and the Batur, fulfilling electrification goals that the manufacturer first publicized in 2021.
Prior to the official announcement, camouflaged prototype vehicles of the Torcal were observed undergoing performance evaluations in challenging environments. Testing locations included extreme cold weather trials near the Arctic Circle as well as high speed handling runs on the Nürburgring circuit in Germany. The exterior styling is expected to utilize an aerodynamic fastback body shape heavily influenced by the design language of the EXP 15 concept car.
The interior cabin is designed to blend traditional luxury with modern interfaces. Preliminary details indicate the layout will feature red leather upholstery paired with black Alcantara accents. A large curved digital screen will manage the primary infotainment functions, though the cockpit will retain traditional physical dials and switches to ensure tactile control remains a core part of the driving experience. Bentley plans to share further technical details regarding the battery capacity and motor output leading up to the autumn launch event.
