Ayaneo has resumed orders for its premium NEXT 2 handheld gaming console at significantly higher prices. The Windows based portable machine features a top tier configuration with an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor and up to 128 GB of RAM. However, this peak model will cost buyers a staggering $5299 when shipments begin later this month.
The return to the official online store comes after a long pause in preorders. Ayaneo previously suspended sales because skyrocketing RAM costs made the handheld unsustainable to produce at its original price point. Prior to this suspension, the exact same 128 GB RAM and 2 TB storage configuration was priced at $4299, marking a $1000 increase for the new launch.
Buyers can choose from 3 memory options depending on their budget. The entry model starts at $2999, which provides 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage space. Stepping up to the mid tier model costs $3699 for 64 GB of RAM and 2 TB of storage. The peak $5299 model maxes out with 128 GB of LPDDR5x memory clocked at 8533 MHz.
Because the device runs Windows, having 128 GB of RAM opens up possibilities beyond standard gaming. Industry journalists suggest that this massive memory pool will allow developers and enthusiasts to run local AI models directly on the portable hardware. Whether gamers are willing to spend desktop computer prices on a handheld remains to be seen.
