Bethesda Game Studios has released a massive roadmap outlining the future of its flagship franchises. According to an official update published by the studio on social media, the developers are actively working on The Elder Scrolls VI, Fallout 5, and multiple spin offs. However, fans still face a long wait as the majority of these major projects remain years away from release.
The studio is currently focusing its main resources on The Elder Scrolls VI. The team is playing early builds of the fantasy sequel daily, which runs on the new Creation Engine 3 software platform. This same technology will eventually power Fallout 5, which has officially entered preproduction. Developing both games on a shared platform allows the teams to build tools and rendering systems that support multiple projects simultaneously.
Fallout fans have several major projects to track. In a major move, Bethesda is partnering once again with Obsidian Entertainment on an unannounced Fallout project. The studio also confirmed that remasters for both Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas are currently in active development. While these remasters do not have release schedules yet, they represent a major effort to bring classic wasteland experiences to modern hardware.
Appalachia is also growing. Fallout 76 will receive a major expansion next year called Raven Rock, which acts as a prequel story to Fallout 3. On the television side, production on Fallout Season 3 is already underway with Amazon Studios, alongside a new unscripted Fallout Shelter television project. These entertainment expansions lead up to a massive live celebration planned for the 30th anniversary of the franchise in 2027.
Starfield is entering its 3rd year with over 17,000,000 players logged to date. Bethesda plans to release new Starborn content next year while continuing to update the game with gameplay tweaks and environment expansions. The studio remains committed to user generated content, noting that community creators have earned over $10 million in royalties across Starfield, Skyrim, and Fallout 4.
