Mangmi has shared the official display specifications for the upcoming Air Y and Air Y Pro vertical Android handhelds. The new portable devices combine a classic vertical layout with modern hardware like a metallic scroll wheel and curved shoulder buttons. However, the manufacturer has yet to confirm which Qualcomm processor will power the systems.
According to the hardware details released by Mangmi, both versions will share a 4.2 inch IPS touchscreen. This screen output features a 1280 by 960 resolution with a 4:3 aspect ratio, making it larger than competitor devices like the 3.95 inch TrimUI Brick Pro. The panel targets a 110% sRGB color gamut and reaches a peak brightness of 500 nits. This brightness level should make the handheld easily readable in outdoor environments.
A newly released 3D rendering video offers a closer look at the physical design. The footage reveals a front breathing light logo alongside a metallic scroll wheel for secondary inputs. Curved shoulder buttons sit near an integrated air vent on the upper shell of the casing. Interestingly, the color options seem to have swapped places since the initial reveal. The standard model appeared in white while the Pro model was black, which reverses the color scheme from the original marketing renders.
Labeling on the rear shell clarifies the power specifications for each device. The Air Y supports 15W charging at 5V 3A, while the Air Y Pro scales up to 18W charging at 9V 2A. This charging speed difference suggests distinct internal battery architectures. Mangmi promises to share the exact battery capacity and processor details in an upcoming announcement, which should complete the hardware picture for retro gaming enthusiasts.
