Minisforum NAB9S International Release Replaces Recalled Models With Intel Core i9 13900HK Processor Enhanced Cooling And Updated Connectivity Port Options
Minisforum has released the NAB9S mini PC internationally. This mini PC is a successor to the recalled previously retailed models which removed faulty capacitors from the manufacturing process. Technical specs for the new NAB9S are listed on a global version of the Minisforum shop and the mini PC is available on Amazon.
The main upgrade here is an upgrade to the Intel Core i9 13900HK processor. The previous models of the series used the previous generation Core i9 12900HK. This newer processor brings with it 6 performance cores and a 400 MHz increase in clock speed, boosting single core performance.
In order to accommodate this upgraded chip, Minisforum developed an new thermal solution. The enhanced cooling solution makes use of 2 copper heat pipes with 2 separate air delivery paths to ensure proper operating temperatures when under load. The thermal modification does come with physical connectivity changes however as the company has eliminated the OCuLink port present on previous systems and dropped a USB4 option in this iteration of board.
The physical ports on the chassis are still considerable. Located on the back and front panels of the system are 2x 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet ports for high speed wired networking, 3x USB 3.2 Type C ports and 4x USB 3.2 Type A ports. Video output is provided by 2x HDMI ports while a single 3.5m jack provides audio input and output.
The system is also sold in several hardware configurations. The barebones hardware that comes without memory and storage costs JPY 69,599 in Japan, €429 in Europe, £369 in the United Kingdom and $399 in the United States. For those that want a plug and play system, the Preconfigured model with 32 GB of RAM and a 1 TB solid state disk is being sold for 759 dollars on the Minisforum Online Store and their Amazon web store front.
