NVIDIA and Wistron Launch First US Mass Production of GB300 Computing Boards

NVIDIA and Wistron have reached a major manufacturing milestone in Texas with the launch of the first American made GB300 computing baseboard. The system board, produced at Wistron's new D1 smart factory in Fort Worth, is officially entering mass production this week. This development marks the first time NVIDIA chip modules are being assembled into complete computing systems on US soil. The wait is over.

The new D1 factory represents a massive 700,000,000 dollar investment and covers 324,000 square feet of manufacturing space. Wistron Chairman Simon Lin and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang attended the opening ceremony to mark the start of production. Lin confirmed that Wistron is already planning to build a D2 facility that will be 2 times the size of D1, with potential D3 and D4 expansions to follow. This aggressive growth aims to build a massive manufacturing cluster in the state.

This Texas operation is a key piece of a broader US production blueprint laid out by Huang. The supply chain begins in Arizona where TSMC fabricates the silicon wafers. From there, the designs go to California for prototyping before arriving in Fort Worth for final assembly. Huang noted that this network will support AI data centers across several other states, including Virginia, Colorado, Nevada, and Ohio.

Unlike standard assembly lines, the D1 facility relies heavily on advanced automation. The factory uses industrial digital twins and robotic arms to manage the assembly of the GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip modules. Later this year, the factory will shift focus to begin producing Wistron's next generation Vera Rubin computing systems. Wistron executives stressed that keeping pace with NVIDIA's rapid development cycle requires being physically close to the core tech market.
