Philips has announced the upcoming release of the 34B2U5900C curved monitor, a display engineered for compatibility with macOS environments. The display is scheduled to enter the market in 2026, though official pricing has not yet been disclosed by the manufacturer. This model features a unique dual mode resolution toggle, allowing professional users to switch between high resolution detailing and fast refresh rates depending on their workflow needs.
The monitor is built around a curved 34 inch VA panel with a 1500R curvature, designed to enhance immersion and reduce eye strain. In its native performance mode, the screen delivers a 5120x2160 resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate. Users can toggle the display to a second mode, which drops the resolution to 2560x1080 but increases the refresh rate to 240Hz. The panel outputs a peak brightness of 450 nits and covers 122% of the sRGB, 111% of the NTSC, and 95% of the DCI P3 color spaces. To achieve studio grade color accuracy, the display is Calman Ready, enabling integration with Portrait Displays software for automated calibration.
Integration with the Apple ecosystem is supported natively through macOS SmartControl. This utility enables users to adjust monitor parameters directly from their Mac computers without requiring additional software installations. For eye comfort during long working sessions, the screen features TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light filtering alongside Eyesafe 2.0 certification. A built in SmartKVM switch and a USB 3.2 hub allow users to control 2 separate computer systems using a single keyboard and mouse setup.
The connectivity suite consists of 4 Type C ports, with 1 port supporting up to 140W of power delivery alongside DisplayPort Alt Mode to charge connected laptops. The monitor also features a 3.5 mm audio jack and a Gigabit Ethernet port that supports advanced network administration protocols including MAPT, PXE, and WOL. Audio output is managed by 2 built in 5W speakers located within the chassis.
The display is supported by a SmartErgoBase stand, which provides up to 180 mm of height adjustment in addition to tilt and swivel options. To help keep workspaces organized, the physical frame of the monitor includes an integrated fold out hook designed to hold headphones when not in use.
