AMD Dominates Intel in Latest German Retail CPU Sales

AMD is completely crushing Intel in the German retail market. According to recent sales data shared by industry tracker TechEpiphany, the chipmaker captured over 90% of all processor sales at a major German retailer. Intel is struggling to stay visible as buyers flock to 3D V Cache hardware.

The biggest winner in the latest numbers is the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. This single processor accounted for more than 20% of all desktop CPUs sold, with 680 units shifting. Gamers are clearly willing to pay premium prices for top gaming performance. This single SKU brought in more volume than the entire Intel lineup combined. Intel managed to sell only 300 processors total across its entire catalog.

Older hardware is also refusing to die. The aging AM4 socket took a massive 34.9% of the sales volume. This is largely because of the budget friendly Ryzen 5 5500 which sold 560 units, and the Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10th Anniversary edition which claimed 310 sales. Budget builders are still building on this older platform instead of upgrading to AM5. It shows that platform longevity pays off for AMD.

On the other side of the fence, Intel is in a bad spot. Its new Socket 1851 platform only managed 170 sales. That is a tiny 5.2% of the market. The flagship Arrow Lake processors are simply not selling. The Core Ultra 9 285K moved just 20 units. Even the older Raptor Lake Refresh chips are struggling, pulling in only 120 sales. Buyers are ignoring the blue team almost entirely.

The financial split is even more brutal than the unit numbers. AMD pulled in 931,452 in total revenue, which is nearly 92% of the total spend. Intel brought in just 81,137. This means AMD is making almost 12 times more money than Intel in this retail space. With the Ryzen 7 9850X3D selling 230 units and the high end Ryzen 9 9950X3D moving 140 units, AMD has locked down both the budget and premium segments.
