ASUS Republic of Gamers has opened preorders for the ROG XBOX Ally X20, a handheld gaming PC celebrating the 20th anniversary of the ROG brand. The device features a translucent black shell with gold interior accents, a 7.4 inch OLED screen, and an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme chip. Standalone units start at $1,299, while an expanded bundle with AR glasses reaches $2,499 ahead of an October retail launch.
The hardware draws aesthetic inspiration from gaming systems released 2 decades ago. A see through casing gives players a view of the revamped cooling system and internal gold frame structure. Powering the handheld is AMD silicon tailored for high performance gaming on portable form factors. The front is dominated by a 7.4 inch Nebula HDR OLED panel designed to deliver deep contrast and vivid colors during handheld play.
For players wanting a larger view, ASUS created the ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 Gaming AR Glasses. These glasses plug straight into the handheld with 1 USB Type C cable to project a virtual 171 inch screen at a distance of 4 meters. The wearable uses a 240Hz micro OLED display with a 0.01ms response time and a 57 degree field of view covering 95% of the focused sightline. Audio is handled by custom speakers tuned by BOSE. Native 3DoF tracking keeps the virtual display steady during head movements.
Buyers can choose between a basic package and an extensive collector set. The $2,499 bundle packs the handheld alongside the AR glasses, a 68W power adapter, and a custom Pelican Protector Case with red latches. Protection also comes from a specialized dbrand Killswitch case with a kickstand, textured grips, matching stick caps, and a circuit board skin. Both the standalone handheld and the AR glasses will also sell separately when inventory lands on shelves in October.
