Chinese video platform Bilibili has launched an international version of its Android application. Often called the Chinese YouTube, the service brings anime, creator clips, and an integrated AI translator to overseas audiences. However, the app is currently missing from several regional Google Play stores including India and Italy.
Using the original domestic version of Bilibili has always been difficult for international viewers because of complicated account verification. The global release solves that problem. It introduces a much simpler registration process so foreign users can start watching immediately. The software also includes offline downloads and an automated AI translation tool to help non Chinese speakers understand the video library. Bilibili confirmed that its teams are actively working to translate more of the existing catalog while improving subtitle quality over time.
The global feed is focusing heavily on short vertical video to capture viewer attention quickly. Beyond short clips, the platform hosts full length movies, animated series, and standard television shows. Independent creators form the core of the community. To attract new creative talent from outside China, Bilibili is running an animation competition with a total cash prize pool of $15,000.
The company is taking a phased approach to the global rollout rather than unlocking the download worldwide all at once. While Android users in several countries can install the app right now, regional storefronts in India, Russia, and Italy cannot access the store listing yet. Bilibili will need to clear those regional hurdles if it wants to build a truly global audience.
