Microsoft has unveiled 2 custom accessories themed around the upcoming Xbox exclusive Gears of War E Day. The lineup features a limited edition wireless controller with a textured cracked asphalt faceplate alongside a custom shell option in the Xbox Design Lab. Preorders are open now through the Microsoft Store ahead of the scheduled launch later this autumn.
The limited edition controller draws visual cues from the emergent holes where the Locust Horde breaks through the surface of Sera. Microsoft used 3D molding and laser etching to recreate the feel of ruined pavement running across the front of the gamepad. This texture is highlighted by red cracks that match the visual identity of the franchise. Most face buttons use a dark aesthetic, but the triggers, D pad, and the Xbox button feature transparent materials with a red tint. A silver COG identification tag is printed directly on the battery cover at the back.
Players who want to customize their gear can access the themed design options through the Xbox Design Lab starting late next month. This customization suite offers a top shell featuring a skull positioned above crossed Lancer rifles, surrounded by battle damage graphics. Microsoft also teamed up with accessory maker 8BitDo to produce a matching charging dock that ships with a rechargeable battery pack. It keeps you in the game. This bundle ensures players have a complete setup that matches the game aesthetic.
Gears of War E Day will launch on Xbox Series X S and PC, serving as a console exclusive for Microsoft. Subscribers will be able to play the title on launch day through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. The custom controller will ship to buyers on the same day the game launches, allowing fans to play with the themed gear immediately.
