Gigabyte has launched the AP1600TM PG5 AI TOP power supply designed for heavy multi GPU workloads. This titanium efficiency unit outputs 1600W of power and features a built in full color LCD screen for real time power tracking. But buyers will have to wait a bit longer for official pricing as the unit is only listed for launch in China soon.
Running deep artificial intelligence development setups requires massive energy and specialized hardware. The new power supply measures 160 by 150 by 86 millimeters and meets the latest ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 standards. Its 80PLUS Titanium certification ensures maximum efficiency under heavy load. To assist with monitoring, the digital display connects with the Gigabyte Control Center software so users can customize the on screen information.
Thermal management is handled by a 14 centimeter dual ball bearing fan that operates silently during lighter tasks. The fan stops completely under low loads to eliminate noise entirely. When the system boots up, the fan automatically runs in reverse to clear out accumulated dust. Users can also trigger this self cleaning cycle manually through the software companion app.
For artificial intelligence researchers, the unit supports up to 4 graphics cards running in parallel. The box includes 2 native 16 pin to 16 pin cables and 2 dual 8 pin to 16 pin PCIe cables. This configuration makes it ready for both current and next generation flagship graphics cards. Gigabyte plans to release the power supply in domestic markets shortly, with global availability details expected to follow.
