Godox has announced the Transparent Viewfinder Camera C100, its first entry into the digital camera market. The device combines a vintage toy camera aesthetic with a transparent optical heads up display and a center weighted light meter. However, the company has not yet confirmed the retail price or official shipping dates.
This compact shooter relies on a distinctive design to stand out in a crowded market. According to official product specifications from Godox, the C100 uses a transparent screen with a transmittance level exceeding 50%. This optical viewfinder allows users to compose photos while looking directly through the physical body of the camera. Essential shooting data such as framing grids, remaining battery life, and exposure modes overlay directly onto your field of view without the need for a traditional rear playback screen.
Exposure management is straightforward. The camera reads light values from the central 25% of your frame to calculate exposure instantly. This center weighted system can also operate independently, turning the device into a standalone external light meter for traditional film photography. By removing the instant playback screen, Godox encourages a blind shooting style where users experience their captures only after transferring them to another device.
The pocketable device is built for everyday carry. It weighs approximately 65 grams with a physical screen size of 60.8 by 47.8 millimeters. Creators can change the aspect ratio on the fly, selecting between 16:9 cinematic bars, standard 4:3 snapshots, documentary style 3:2, or 1:1 square formats. Storage is handled via a built in TF card slot that accepts memory cards up to 128GB.
Sharing your captures is simple. The device connects directly to smartphones via a Type C cable to export raw photos and video clips using an OTG link. Power is supplied by an internal battery rated for over 1.5 hours of continuous active shooting. The system charges through a standard 5V 1A input via a USB 2.0 connection. The operational temperature range spans from 5 to 40 degrees Celsius, making it suitable for standard outdoor environments.
