A select lineup of Hisense televisions will be the first to receive Dolby Vision 2 and Vision 2 Max. The updated picture formats will arrive on several 2026 TV models through a firmware update. However, the partners have not shared a specific release timeline.
A joint announcement from Dolby and Hisense confirmed that the upgrade will target 4 separate series of televisions. These include the UX, UR9, UR8, and U7 lines. The firmware will roll out to devices running on 2 software platforms, namely Google TV and VIDAA OS. The standard Dolby Vision 2 profile automatically optimizes on screen performance for sports, fast action, and dark scenes. It also introduces manual controls, giving users the ability to adjust color depth, contrast, and image intensity.
The premium Dolby Vision 2 Max tier adds extra processing features for the same television models. It introduces Authentic Motion for smoother action and Light Sense 2 to calibrate brightness according to room lighting. The format remains backward compatible with existing Dolby Vision content. Streaming providers including CANAL+, iQIYI, and Peacock plan to support the new features in upcoming releases.
The firmware update is scheduled for release in North America, Europe, and the Asia Pacific region. Local pricing and exact update windows will be announced by Hisense at a later date. This rollout represents a major step in the ongoing development of high dynamic range video standards.
