HUAWEI has revealed the Pura X View, bringing the wide display proportions of foldable phones to a classic candybar form factor. The handset features a 6.39 inch OLED screen with an unconventional 16:9.5 aspect ratio, a massive 7000 mAh battery, and an ultra thin 6.68 mm body. Preorders are now open in China ahead of retail shipments, though HUAWEI has not yet shared official pricing details.
The footprint is unusual. HUAWEI is calling this the first smartphone in the world with a 16:9.5 aspect ratio. The screen measures 6.39 inches with a sharp 2232x1320 resolution and reaches a peak brightness of 6500 nits. Bezels on all 4 sides are trimmed down to just 1.05 mm, giving the panel a 96.1% screen to body ratio. It also supports 2160 Hz PWM dimming to reduce eye strain in low light. The wider profile targets people who read, watch video, or play mobile games without dealing with a foldable hinge.
Fitting a large power cell into a slim body is usually a difficult engineering hurdle. HUAWEI packed a 7000 mAh battery into a frame that is only 6.68 mm thick. The entire device weighs 201 grams. That is impressive for a phone with this much battery capacity. On the software side, the device runs HarmonyOS 7 straight out of the box. The interface is customized around the wider screen layout, giving apps extra breathing room for multitasking and media playback.
Buyers can choose between 4 color options, including red, gray, white, and black. Reservations have already started through official retail channels in China, with open sales scheduled to begin before the end of the month. Official pricing information remains under wraps for now.
