SG Image has launched its new AF 35mm F1.4 autofocus lens for APS C mirrorless cameras. The compact prime features an all metal build, a 52.5mm full frame equivalent focal length, and arrives first for Fujifilm X mount systems. Pricing in China starts at 649 yuan, with an optional metal hood bundle available for 699 yuan.
The optical design uses 7 glass elements arranged in 6 groups. On crop sensor bodies, the 35mm focal length delivers a natural 52.5mm equivalent field of view, making it suitable for street photography and daily portraiture. The fast F1.4 maximum aperture allows for strong background blur and clean low light shooting.
Close up performance is solid for a standard prime. The lens achieves a minimum focusing distance of 0.35 meters. Users looking to attach standard filters can use the 52mm front thread, which works with standard screw in UV and polarizing filters.
The lens body is constructed from metal and weighs approximately 227 grams. Buyers have a choice of 3 color finishes including silver, black, and a two tone black and silver design. While SG Image plans to release versions for Sony E and Nikon Z mounts later, this initial launch is exclusive to Fujifilm X mount users.
