A new ultra powerful desktop replacement has entered the mini PC space. The GMKtec EVO X5 Pro features an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 processor with up to 192 GB of memory, allowing users to assign an unprecedented 160 GB as dedicated graphics memory. The system launches globally later this month following its initial reveal at the IFA tech show in Berlin.
GMKtec built this compact machine around the AMD Gorgon Halo platform and the Radeon 8065S graphics core. The memory system relies on 192 GB of fast LPDDR5X 8533 RAM. Letting users assign up to 160 GB of that pool directly to graphics tasks completely blows past the older 96 GB limit seen on previous generation hardware. That makes this small box an incredible tool for running massive AI models locally without renting cloud servers. Storage capacity is just as wild, supporting up to 24 TB across 3 separate M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 4 solid state drive slots.
Power comes from an internal 330W supply, so you do not have to hide a giant power brick behind your desk. If 1 system is not enough, you can link several units together in a cluster for distributed heavy workloads. Physical ports are split logically across both sides of the case. The front panel gives you 2 USB Type A ports, 2 USB4 40 Gbps ports, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and 1 integrated fingerprint scanner for fast sign in.
The back panel steps up bandwidth with 2 next generation USB4 V2 ports running at 80 Gbps alongside 2 standard USB Type A ports. Dual 10 GbE Ethernet ports handle ultra fast wired networking with zero delay. You also get 1 HDMI output, a DC power plug, a second 3.5 mm audio jack, and 1 Kensington lock slot for physical security. GMKtec will open global orders before the end of the month, though full retail pricing details will drop right as the sales window opens.
