Spanish hardware builder Slimbook has unveiled the CUBE, a multipurpose network attached storage system powered by the AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS processor. Built for Linux enthusiasts, developers, and small businesses, the system comes in both desktop and 2U rackmount form factors with prices starting at 1222 euros, which converts to roughly $1350 USD. It supports Linux, Windows, and TrueNAS straight out of the box.
Buyers can select between 2 distinct hardware layouts depending on their workspace. The desktop NAS CUBE version includes 8 drive bays for 3.5 inch hard drives, making it a great option for massive media collections and centralized backups. If you need server rack compatibility, the RACK CUBE provides a 2U rackmount enclosure with 4 bays for 3.5 inch drives. Both models include 2 PCIe Gen 4 M.2 slots for high speed caching or flash storage volumes. The baseline configuration comes with 16GB of DDR5 memory and a 500GB solid state drive.
The system provides heavy duty networking capability for multiple simultaneous users. The back panel features 4 individual 2.5GbE RJ45 ethernet ports, allowing for link aggregation or dedicated connections across virtual machines. For external accessories and quick storage expansion, Slimbook added 1 USB C port operating at 40Gbps alongside 3 standard USB A ports running at 5Gbps. This balance of compute power and connectivity makes the machine well suited for private cloud hosting, local development environments, and home media streaming.
