TCL has introduced the Kids Watch K5, a rugged wearable that turns into a miniature desktop robot when connected to its motorized charging dock. Showcased at the IFA 2026 trade show, the device combines parental safety controls, water ejection audio features, and 4G communication tools. The smartwatch is scheduled to hit the European market with a retail price of €99.99.
The hardware is built to survive rough daily play. It sports a 1.4 inch TFT screen with 240x240 resolution, shielded by raised plastic borders around the rim. The entire chassis measures 14.35 millimeters thick and weighs roughly 50 grams with an IP68 ingress rating. If water enters the speaker cavity during handwashing or swimming, programmed acoustic vibrations push the liquid straight out.
Under the hood, the watch runs a lightweight RTOS platform powered by a Unisoc W337E processor, 256MB of RAM, and 256MB of storage space. Power comes from a 600 mAh battery that delivers 2 days of active run time or 4 days on standby. For network access, buyers can pick between a physical nano SIM slot or an embedded eSIM setup. Wireless support covers 4G cellular data, Bluetooth 4.2, and 2.4 GHz Wi Fi. A 2 MP camera sits above the display, letting parents make 2 way video calls with their children.
Safety tracking is the centerpiece of the software experience. Through a dedicated smartphone companion app, parents can view live geolocation data, check movement history, set geographic safety zones, and remotely lock the hardware if it gets lost. A dedicated school mode mutes incoming alerts and locks internal games during class hours, leaving only the SOS emergency button operational. Kids can also add friends by shaking 2 TCL watches near each other, though the contact only saves after parental approval.
The most unusual addition is the motorized charging dock shown alongside the watch at IFA. When connected, the cradle powers up and turns the watch into a moving desk companion, displaying an animated face on the color screen. TCL plans to sell the watch in blue, pink, and orange black color schemes, with 3 optional strap accessory packs available at launch. Pricing and launch timing for the robotic dock remain unconfirmed.
