Vivo X500 Series Unveils 17EV Dynamic Range and 2nm Dimensity Video Hardware

Vivo has previewed the video recording capabilities of its upcoming X500 flagship series at the annual vivo Creator Festival. The new lineup introduces a custom BlueImage 900 sensor with 17EV dynamic range, dedicated 2nm Dimensity processing, and native 8K Live photo capture. Official pricing and global availability details remain unconfirmed ahead of the hardware debut later this month.

The primary sensor on the X500 series reaches 17EV of dynamic range to rival dedicated cinema cameras. The hardware supports 10 bit 422 color encoding alongside the ACES academy color system, with compatibility planned for future DaVinci Resolve updates. A custom Log hardware module runs directly on the new 2nm Dimensity processor. This architecture allows the phone to record 4K 120 fps 10 bit Log video straight to storage while keeping thermal output and power consumption low.

Slow motion capture receives a massive speed increase on the Pro models. The phone captures native 4K at 240 fps, which uses AI motion trajectory prediction to output 4K slow motion at 960 fps. Real time focus tracking also operates at 4K 120 fps by tapping into the high compute power of the integrated NPU.

Broadcasters get access to a dedicated 4K 60 fps live streaming mode. The system uses a dual 5G network aggregation setup to combine 2 cellular connections for stable data transmission. For photography, vivo built an 8K native Live photo system with multi platform upload support, alongside 4K cinematic Live picture modes.

Processing tasks run through the BlueImage V3 plus imaging chip. This co processor handles 4K Dolby portrait video, real time center lock composition, and automatic AI highlight cuts. The Movie Workshop mode also adds custom multi track color grading and cinematic lens effects directly inside the default camera software.

The standard X500 model features a 1/1.28 inch LYTIA 828 main camera, a LYTIA 610 telephoto lens, and a 50MP ultra wide sensor. Both the main camera and periscope zoom carry CIPA 7.0 stabilization ratings. The exterior preserves the signature large circular camera housing on the rear glass.

The top tier X500 Pro Max steps up to a 6.83 inch BOE Q11 2K screen and runs on the 2nm Dimensity 9600 Pro processor. Its rear array pairs a 50MP 1/1.28 inch main sensor with a 200MP HP0 periscope telephoto lens and a 50MP ultra wide sensor. Hardware stability on the Pro Max relies on a 3 degree gimbal stabilization system designed to eliminate handheld shake during fast movement.
