Xiaomi has previewed the Pad 9 Pro Max, a 13.3 inch flagship tablet designed to function as an external monitor, a drawing tablet, and a standalone workstation. The hardware features a 3.4K resolution screen with a 3:2 aspect ratio, a peak brightness of 1000 nits, and the debut of the Xring O3 AI processor. The tablet will also be the first device to ship with HyperOS 4 ahead of the upcoming Xiaomi autumn launch event.
The screen is built around a large 13.3 inch primary color panel tuned for desktop class software. Xiaomi chose a 3:2 screen ratio to better fit desktop application layouts and split screen multitasking. Color accuracy reaches a Delta E measurement around 0.47, while maximum brightness hits 1000 nits for working in well lit environments.
Display flexibility is the main selling point of the hardware. Using a full function Type C cable, the tablet connects directly to PCs to serve as a secondary desktop monitor or a dedicated digitizer for digital art. When paired with a computer, artists can use the Focus Pen Pro alongside a TourBox controller to enable a two handed editing workflow.
The tablet also functions as a portable display for gaming hardware. Users can connect handheld gaming consoles that support DisplayPort 1.2 or higher over Type C, outputting games to the 13.3 inch screen with integrated stereo audio. This makes the tablet a practical mobile screen for gaming sessions away from a television.
Internal hardware sees a major shift with the debut of the Xring O3 AI flagship processor. The Pad 9 Pro Max also introduces HyperOS 4 out of the box, bringing an operating system tailored specifically for large screen productivity and seamless cross device computing.
