Abxylute Reveals M5 and M6 Sliding Mobile Gamepads

Abxylute has launched the M5 and M6 mobile gamepads on Kickstarter, introducing sliding controllers inspired by the Sony Xperia Play design. The hardware lineup splits into an ergonomic wireless model with Hall effect sensors and a compact wired variant measuring 8.5 millimeters. Preorders in the United States start at $85 for the M5 and $90 for the M6 with retail release dates unannounced.

Abxylute designed the M6 around user requests for larger sticks and improved grip. The controller attaches magnetically to the back of an iPhone or Android device, with an optional magnetic handle available for extended sessions. Controls slide out from beneath the phone along a track. The control deck includes a directional pad, XYAB buttons, and capacitive thumbsticks. Hall effect linear triggers feature an adjustable short throw switch. A programmable Z button replaces L3 or R3 and supports multi step macros. Motion tracking relies on a 6 axis gyroscope. The M6 links via Bluetooth 5.3 or USB C, while an internal 500 mAh battery provides up to 10 hours of play on 1 charge.

The M5 targets portability with a slim profile starting at 8.5 millimeters. Abxylute removed the internal battery, gyroscope, lighting, capacitive sticks, and Hall effect triggers to reduce thickness. Because it lacks a battery, the M5 requires a physical wired connection to the phone to draw power. It includes pass through charging to keep the phone powered during use and features dedicated physical L3 and R3 buttons.

Both gamepads connect to the Abxy mobile app. The application acts as a launcher for emulators, cloud services, and mobile games, while allowing players to tweak stick sensitivity and rebind buttons. The M6 software also supports mapping on screen touch buttons to physical controls. Preorder pricing on Kickstarter sits at $85 for the M5 and $90 for the M6. Retail availability remains unconfirmed.
