Amazon has launched a new hardware family called Amazon Alexa Tablets, offering full Google Play Store integration and Alexa+ intelligence across 3 screen sizes. The flagship 12 Pro model introduces an optional anti glare Nanomatte display alongside an 8 core 4nm processor. Pricing begins at $229.99 for the 8 inch model and reaches $499.99 for the top tier 12 inch tablet, with retail availability starting immediately.

The biggest change comes on the software front. Amazon shifted away from its restricted app ecosystem by running standard Android with complete access to the Google Play Store right out of the box. Users can install apps like YouTube, Netflix, and Gmail directly alongside standard Amazon services like Prime Video and Kindle. The hardware uses an aluminum unibody design across all 3 variants.

The Amazon Alexa Tablet 12 Pro leads the series with a 12 inch panel running at a 120Hz refresh rate. It measures 6.5 millimeters thick and uses a 3:2 aspect ratio with 280 pixels per inch. Buyers can pick between a standard glossy panel or a specialized Nanomatte version. Developed with Corning, this textured glass etches the surface at the sub pixel level to cut reflection without muddying color accuracy. Internal power comes from a 4nm 8 core processor with up to 16GB of RAM. The tablet includes 4 Dolby Atmos speakers, Wi Fi 6E support, and a battery rated for 16 hours of continuous video.

Amazon built 2 productivity tools specifically for the 12 inch model. The Pro Keyboard latches on magnetically without Bluetooth pairing, while the Pro Pen supports 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity with wireless charging. When reading digital books, opening the Kindle app activates a specialized reading mode. This setting turns off notifications, shifts colors between natural, paper, or pure grayscale tones, and pushes battery life up to 20 hours.

Alexa+ handles virtual assistant tasks using on screen context. Users can start hands free voice sessions without repeating wake words, or let the assistant scan on screen information to plan trips and add calendar alerts. Amazon made this system opt in by default, placing a visible indicator on screen whenever the system reads display content.

Amazon also created 2 smaller form factors. The Alexa Tablet 11 uses an 11 inch 2.5K screen with a 90Hz refresh rate, 8GB of RAM, and 15 hours of battery life. The Alexa Tablet 8 features an 8.7 inch display, weighing 329 grams with 14 hours of playback. Amazon sells dedicated Kids editions of both sizes, bundling rugged protective cases and a 1 year subscription to Amazon Kids+.

Base prices start at $229.99 for the Alexa Tablet 8 with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The Alexa Tablet 11 costs $329.99 for 8GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The Alexa Tablet 12 Pro begins at $499.99 with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, while the Nanomatte version starts at $549.99. The optional Pro Keyboard retails for $149.99, and the Pro Pen costs $89.99. Orders are currently live on Amazon as well as retail stores like Target and Best Buy.
