Asus has added the NUC 14 Essential Fanless to its official website, introducing a passively cooled version of its entry-level NUC 14 Essential desktop. The compact machine eliminates internal fans in favor of silent heat dissipation, targeting low-noise environments and basic daily computing workloads.
To handle thermal management without active airflow, Asus increased the height of the chassis. While the footprint remains unchanged at 135 by 115 mm, the thickness expands from 36 mm on the standard model to 48.2 mm on the fanless variant. Even with the taller profile, the entire enclosure takes up just 0.74 liters of volume.
The system is powered by Intel Twin Lake architecture, offering choices between the Intel Processor N150 and Intel Processor N250. Both chips operate with a 6W thermal design power (TDP), a low power draw that makes passive cooling feasible in such a small enclosure.
Internal hardware expansion matches the original version. The mini PC features a single DDR5 SO-DIMM slot for system memory, alongside two storage slots: one M.2 2280 slot with PCIe support and one M.2 2242 slot for SATA drives. For connectivity, the device includes a 2.5GbE Ethernet port, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3.
