Relic Entertainment has announced the 3.0 update for Company of Heroes 3 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the franchise. The patch introduces major environmental weather systems, a ground up rework of the multiplayer economy, and an expanded 3 player mode for the Final Stand cooperative experience. Players will gain access to several new battlefields and mechanical overhauls across the Italian campaign.
Visual systems receive a broad update with added weather mechanics including active rain and snow effects. Environmental terrain shows interactive wetness alongside upgraded lighting on infantry models. Sound design has been updated with sharper firing audio, revised explosion effects, and musical tracks imported directly from the original game and Company of Heroes 2.
Competitive multiplayer adjustments target large team matches by overhauling resource collection and reducing vehicle clustering. Artillery systems have been rebalanced to emphasize positioning, while 1 existing Battlegroup has been rebuilt alongside minor tweaks to other units. Combat AI uses new logic to improve late game decision making during retreats and build orders. User interface elements now feature revised unit health bars with fresh healing animations.
The Italian Campaign map now divides resources into 3 distinct operational tiers consisting of Manpower for units, Munitions for abilities, and Fuel for upgrades. Town liberations provide exclusive upgrade trees that become stronger as progress continues. Battlefield offerings expand with 5 new maps including Vire River Valley, Ancona Railyard, Foggia Airfield, Turin Steelworks, and Radarstation Mammut, while older locations like Langres Winter and Rapido River Crossing receive full visual updates.
The cooperative Final Stand mode expands with a new 3 player option that scales difficulty automatically across all battlefields. It adds the Dam Busters battleground featuring shifting tactical advantages throughout combat. The mode includes 13 player units, 14 abilities, 35 passive technologies, and 8 enemy units across all 4 factions, alongside 4 cosmetic collections and 1 new Victory Point.
