Forza Horizon 6 Heading to PlayStation 5 with Cross Play and Japan Expansion

Playground Games has announced that Forza Horizon 6 is heading to PlayStation 5 alongside its first major expansion. The open world racer brings its recreation of Japan to Sony hardware with full cross play and shared community creations across Xbox and PC. Digital pre orders are live now on the PlayStation Store ahead of an official launch in late January.

Panic Button handled development of the PlayStation 5 version in collaboration with Turn 10 Studios and Playground Games. Players on Sony hardware get 2 visual presets. Quality mode targets 4K resolution at 30FPS, while Performance mode shifts the frame rate target to 60FPS. All pre orders through the PlayStation Store include a pre tuned Ferrari J50 that unlocks after finishing the prologue.

The PlayStation 5 version integrates directly into the existing player base. Full cross play and cross save functionality link drivers across Xbox, Steam, and PlayStation networks. User generated content carries over between systems on day 1. This gives new players immediate access to existing community race routes, vehicle setups, custom liveries, and player created EventLab events built by drivers on PC and Xbox.

Playground Games offers 3 retail packages for the racer. The Standard and Deluxe packages arrive in late January, while buyers of the Premium Edition get 5 days of early access. The studio also plans to launch the first premium expansion for all platforms during that early access period, accompanied by a free content update. Existing players on other platforms can buy a separate Premium Upgrade to access the new expansion and vehicle packs.
