Honor X5ds Debuts with Dual Screens and 6000 mAh Battery on Android 16 Go

Honor has released the X5ds, an entry level smartphone featuring a secondary rear display alongside a 6.78 inch 120 Hz main screen. Running on Android 16 Go Edition, the hardware pairs a 50 MP primary camera with a large 6000 mAh battery. The device is now on sale in South Africa for $150, offering flagship style dual screen utility at a budget price point.

The standout hardware element is a 2.01 inch rear LCD screen with a resolution of 240x296 pixels located right next to the camera module. This smaller panel acts as a viewfinder for high quality selfies, shows incoming call alerts, and handles music playback controls. Up front, the phone carries a 6.78 inch LCD panel running at 720x1576 resolution with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and peak brightness of 600 nits. For photos, the back features a single 50 MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, 4x digital zoom, and an LED flash. A 5 MP sensor sits on the front for video calls, with both cameras recording video at 1080p resolution.

Honor equipped the smartphone with a Unisoc T610 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage. A dedicated 3 card slot allows users to run 2 nano SIM cards and 1 memory card of up to 1TB capacity at the same time. The handset runs on Android 16 Go Edition, optimizing resources for budget silicon. A 6000 mAh battery provides power and supports 15W wired charging.

The chassis measures 168.3 by 78.5 by 8.72 millimeters and weighs approximately 214 grams, carrying an IP52 rating for basic dust and water resistance. Physical ports include a USB C connector and a dedicated 3.5 mm audio jack. Wireless standards cover dual band Wi Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and GPS navigation. Retail pricing sits at $150 in South Africa, with wider international release details yet to be confirmed.
