Huawei has officially introduced the Mate 90 RS Ultimate Design, an ultra luxury flagship featuring an eye watering 12000 nit display and a Kirin 9050 Pro processor. The smartphone combines a 200 MP periscope zoom camera with a massive 6800 mAh battery and rare triple active SIM connectivity. Pricing starts at $1820 in China with storage configurations reaching 2TB.
The device serves as the flagship entry in the lineup, focusing on maximum hardware capability. Up front sits a 6.9 inch OLED panel capable of reaching 12000 nits peak brightness in localized areas, making it readable under intense sunlight. Under the hood, Huawei installed its Kirin 9050 Pro platform. The company positions this chipset as the fastest processor ever placed inside a Mate series device, giving it enough power to handle heavy multitasking without breaking a sweat.
Battery endurance is supported by a large 6800 mAh cell. Charging speeds are fast across the board, providing 100W over a wired connection and 50W when using wireless charging pads. This combination ensures users can replenish the large capacity cell in short bursts throughout the day.
Mobile photography is anchored by a versatile triple sensor array. The main camera uses a 50 MP sensor paired with an adjustable mechanical aperture. For wide shots, Huawei included a 40 MP ultra wide shooter. The standout lens is a 200 MP periscope telephoto unit that delivers 10x optical zoom across an equivalent focal range of 24mm to 240mm. Users can also connect external camera accessories to expand shooting options.
Color reproduction gets a boost from a third generation spectral sensor designed to capture precise skin tones and ambient lighting. For selfies and security, the front display houses a 13 MP camera alongside an auxiliary 3D depth module that enables secure facial recognition.
Network connectivity offers an unusual level of flexibility for frequent travelers and business users. The phone supports 4 SIM profiles in total, split between 2 physical nano SIM trays and 2 eSIM slots. Up to 3 of these connections can remain active on standby at the same time, allowing users to receive calls and messages across multiple lines without manual switching.
The exterior finish comes in black, white, and red. In China, the baseline model with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage costs $1820. Stepping up to the 16GB RAM and 1TB storage variant raises the price to $2100, while the top tier 2TB edition tops out at $2660.
