Huawei updated its official website store listings to reflect immediate price hikes across the nova 16 lineup in China. Retail costs for the nova 16 SE rose by 200 yuan ($30), while the standard and Pro models increased by 400 yuan ($60). The adjustment responds to rising component supply expenses, leaving pricing on the nova 16z and Ultra models unchanged.
Huawei executive Richard Yu addressed the price changes during a meeting with international media, confirming that memory supply costs added over $200 in manufacturing expenses to each phone. Yu stated that the business could no longer absorb supplier price increases without experiencing unsustainable margin drops.
We increased prices at a very slow pace because we tried to absorb the costs ourselves so consumers would not have to bear them. But our profit margins are falling sharply. If we take losses, our business cannot continue, and the company must survive first.
The nova 16 SE received a 200 yuan ($30) price bump across all storage tiers. The 128GB version shifted from 2499 yuan ($372) to 2699 yuan ($402). The 256GB tier increased from 2699 yuan ($402) to 2899 yuan ($431). The 512GB option moved from 3199 yuan ($476) to 3399 yuan ($506).
Both the base nova 16 and the nova 16 Pro received 400 yuan ($60) increases. The standard nova 16 with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage now costs 3399 yuan ($506) instead of 2999 yuan ($446), while the 512GB model sits at 3899 yuan ($580) compared to the original 3499 yuan ($521). The nova 16 Pro now starts at 4299 yuan ($640) for 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, up from 3899 yuan ($580). Its 512GB version moved from 4399 yuan ($655) to 4799 yuan ($714), and the 1TB edition jumped from 4999 yuan ($744) to 5399 yuan ($804).
Prices for the remaining devices in the product family stay at their original levels. The nova 16z remains priced at 2699 yuan ($402) for 12GB RAM with 256GB storage, and 3199 yuan ($476) for 512GB storage. The top tier nova 16 Ultra maintains its pricing at 4699 yuan ($699) for 256GB, 5199 yuan ($774) for 512GB, and 5799 yuan ($863) for 1TB.
